Alone In The Crowd (Version: Proof Of Concept)

Plot Synopsis:

You're all alone, in this strange black void. Trapped in your own thoughts. Who are you? Where are you? and Why can't you move?

Your entire known world gets turned on it's head the moment the door opens and you fall out of what seems to be some kind of pod or chamber that was filled with water and monitoring your vital signs, at least until you woke up that is. How long were you asleep for? Why did you wake up? Who did this to you? It's up to you to find out.

Stuck in  a dark place with seemingly no one around to help you, things are only made worse when you realize you don't even remember who your family and friends are.

From these seemingly humble beginnings, it looks like you'll have to uncover the mystery of what happened to you, who did it, and for what purpose. All together with a mysterious Doctor that's hiding things from you, life gets really hard really fast when you have to attend University, join clubs, and meet new people. As if that weren't enough, you start receiving these strange electric shocks in your head. 

You'd better find out what happened fast, or else you'll be left alone that strange black void indefinitely!

Game Info:

Compared to my other games, this is a little more serious, but the idea came to me by brainstorming and daydreaming about what it would be like if I were to make my own mystery novel. I kept thinking about it over and over again, and after daydreaming about it for a couple of weeks, I decided to start brainstorming and structuring what I wanted my story to look like in my free time. One thing led to another, and I decided to go forward with making it into reality. It takes ideas and inspiration from various things such as: Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Doki Doki Literature Club, and Danganronpa.

Just to be clear, this is just a Proof Of Concept. That means the game is nowhere near finished. In fact, it's not even close to being started yet. The game is about 30 minutes long so far, and is more of a Prologue to the story that I want to tell. I just want to see if anyone is interested in it before going further with the idea.

Additional Notes:

- The menu hasn't been touched, I only added a menu background which is just one of the backgrounds

- The biggest set back for me right now are the visual/art components of this project since I'm not an art person and have no experience in drawing anything. 

-The sprites in this game so far were just these really terrible pencil sketches that I just included so that it can look and feel 'complete' (at least in the most basic sense, what visual novel doesn't have sprites?). It looks strange, but it was mainly to prove to myself that I could at least accomplish all aspects of a visual novel myself (with no sprites from other sources like in previous games I made).

- The backgrounds are AI generated, because I also have no experience in making visual novel backgrounds. Remember, this was all done for the proof of concept, so eventually these backgrounds (which are messy and scattered and obviously AI generated just by looking at them) would be replaced with something else.

- The backgrounds and Sprites in this version are therefore all Placeholder assets. The Music is the only thing that would be staying.

Ending Note:

All in all, I hope this Proof Of Concept and the game is fun and enjoyable, at least for the 30 minutes that it can entertain you for. Please feel free to comment on what you think about the game, the story, the writing, what is good, and what I can improve on.
